Whimsy approached a tree. Looking up it saw a cat casually laying across a bough with one back leg out stretched. The cat’s eyes were large and wide, it had many teeth, long claws and a perpetual grin planted on its round face. Whimsy climbed up the tree and sat next to the cat in awe.
“What are you?” asked Whimsy looking at the cat sideways.
“A mad little girl once called me Cheshire Puss,” said the cat.
“Is that what you are?” Whimsy looked straight up.
“If that is what you want to call me, I have another, Cheshire Cat.”
“Fascinating!” said Whimsy.
“What brings you to this place?” said the cat looking serious for a moment.
“I saw a white rabbit in a waist-coat looking at a pocket watch. I wanted to ask it about food, but it ran away. I guess its late for something? So, I followed it down a hole where I floated down slowly, I’ve been only able to see a glimpse of its white fluffy tail this whole time. I never caught up to it. Do you know a place where I can learn about food?”
“You can go see the March Hare and the Mad Hatter, they may be able to help. I warn you they are mad.” The cat’s grin grew wider.
“That’s okay, so am I.”
